Throughout the covid-19 pandemic, humor has always been a big part of our coping. We have ritualized memes based on the new Covid hardships we encounter. Digital media generate a bond between individuals and messages in memes within social media, demonstrating a cultural understanding through a connection to each other and the use of memes. We will examine the verbal folklore of Covid Memes and the folk groups that have used them, why and how they are made.
BREAKDOWN
Webster Merriam Dictionary defines a meme as: "an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture." Memes can illustrate what each subgroup within this folk group values most in this time of crisis. Folklore is an expressive body of culture encompassing traditions, beliefs, customs, and stories shared by a community (Sims & Stephens, 2011) Our true emotions have been expressed through this form.
VALUES AND BELIEFS

Gen-Z has made a variety of memes that have created a chainlike effect for the creation of many more. The humor of Gen-z and millennials are very different, but gen-z has still been able to make a few laughs out of the content millennials have brought to us.
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
With the folk groups communicating their values, the Memes do have a very large significance in our day to day coping. Through the communication of memes there is a wide demonstration of cultural knowledge. There is a wide spread of information within a meme whether you know it or not. Staying within the lifetime of a meme can make you aware of current events.
